Habitat: South Africa, South America. Some species have become naturalized in Europe.
Description: a family of herbaceous or shrub-like plants with a tuber that usually fold up their leaves at night (nyctinasty). Yellow flowers are followed by fruits (capsules) capable of throwing seeds some distance from the plant. There are hundreds of species, all related to Geraniacee, some of which may be invasive.

Water: apply water thoroughly during the growing season though not frequently.
