Cactus e Dintorni - Cactus Planet - weingarthia

Habitat: mountainous regions of Bolivia and northern Argentina.
Description: small, globular plants tending to from clusters at maturity. The tubercles are arranged in spirals. The flowers, in different shades of yellow, are produce throughout summer even by young plants. It formerly belonged to the genus Echinocactus; now it is part of Rebutia. According to Bux Weingarthia it should be classified as a subgenus of Gymnocalycium.
Soil: basic mix. Add some peat to raise the pH to 6.
Location: dappled shade or filtered light in the summertime. Good ventilation is paramount.
Temperature: they tolerate a minimum of 5°C (41°F) in dry conditions; should the air humidity be medium or high, do not let the temperature go below 7-8° (45-46°F)C.
Water: keep the soil moist but be careful to avoid waterlogging. Leave it dry in the winter, spraying occasionally with water.
Cultivation tips: easy and slow-growing; repot every two years. They resent excessive heat.
