Habitat: Mexico.
Description: this rare genus comprises globular cacti with ribs growing in spirals, rhomboidal tubercles and a taproot. The diurnal, white flowers are produced in the summer and may reach 15 cm (6 in) in diameter.
Soil: basic mix.
Location: filtered light.
Temperature: the minimum should stay around 10°C (50°F).
Water: average; do not water if temperatures are low.
Cultivation tips: difficult; it is very slow growing especially during the first years of life when it needs constant care. Propagation is from seed and it’s advisable to graft it. Prone to rotting in case of excessive humidity.
