Habitat: Mexico.
Description: a genus of cacti with flat, leaf-like, deeply incised stems bearing showy, very fragrant, nocturnal, yellowish flowers, red on the outside. It is now within the genus Selenicereus.
Soil: fertile mix.
Location: partial shade.
Temperature: the minimum temperature should not drop below 7°C (45°F); anyway it’s best overwintered with minimum temperatures between 10 and 12°C (50-54°F).
Water: water cautiously; spray plants lightly during the winter.
Cultivation tips: easily propagated from cuttings in the summer. Apply fertilizer and spray them with water regularly from spring onwards.
Main species of Cryptocereus: Cryptocereus anthonyanus: requires orchid potting mix with a slightly acidic pH;
Cryptocereus imitans, the soil should be improved with leaf mould.
