Habitat: Brazil.
Description: a genus with upright stems, sometimes exhibiting a horizontal or oblique habit. Some may be cespitose, others such as A. rhodantha quite tall. The glossy green stems have a yellow or brown spination. Mature plants develop a bristly cephalium which bears the mostly diurnal flowers.
Soil: basic mix.
Location: filtered sunlight; full sun during the winter.
Temperature: minimum temperature of 10°C (50°F).
Water: average.
Cultivation tips: propagation is from seed or cuttings.
Main species of Arrojadoa: Arrojadoa aureispina; Arrojadoa dinae (max height 30cm/12 in.), with long and copious flowering.
A. horstiana; Arrojadoa rhodantha, it may attain one metre in height. Arrojadoa theunisseniana.
